Summary
For some years now, the use of waste paper in the production of newsprint has been increasing steadily. Initially only the paper manufacturers in Central Europe (and some in the U.S.A.) showed any interest in this practice due to the fact that, as opposed to others, they have only smaller resources of wood at their disposal. At that time, not as much importance was attached to environmental aspects as is today, although the low energy requirement per tonne with recycled paper was always one important factor in favour of this technology.
